Doing a tryout is the first step in joining the team. This is a chance for the coach to see if the prospective swimmer is actually ready for swim team, and if so which level they will start at.
Tryouts for the swim team are held once or twice a month and are usually listed on the Meets & Events page. All interested swimmers must pass a tryout before registering with the swim team.
*Please note that not everyone who tries out makes the team. Wave has an open door policy and anyone not ready is encouraged to take any needed lessons and come back again for the next try out.
Admittance into the groups is as follows:
Explore 1: swimmers must be 7 years of age or younger, able to swim 1 length of backstroke and side breathing freestyle; additionally the coach must feel that the swimmer is water safe
Explore 2: swimmers are 8-10 years of age, able to swim 1 length of backstroke and side breathing freestyle and legal breaststroke; additionally the coach must feel that the swimmer is water safe

Athlete placement into a group is based on their age and ability. The coaches are the only ones qualified to make that determination.
Please note that Wave Aquatics is a competitive swim team, and that practice and meet attendance is expected.
Once your swimmer passes their tryout and has been placed into a training group, you will need to register them with the team.
Go to the Wave Aquatics home page. On the left side of the page it says:
Start Registration
Click on that to begin registering.
Please be sure to read through the registration document carefully (see link below) and let us know if you have any questions.
