Interim Executive Director Hired
A new dawn for Wave Aquatics has commenced with the hiring of its first Interim Executive Director and plans to seek a permanent ED this fall
Wave Aquatics announced today that it has hired Matt Eldridge as its Interim Executive Director to lead the nonprofit organization and support its search for a permanent, new Executive Director. These steps reflect Wave’s adoption of an Executive Director leadership model in order to manage its continued growth in aquatics services to Eastside King County residents.
Eldridge has served in Interim Executive Director and other transitional executive roles at a number of nonprofit organizations in the greater Seattle area. Most recently, he was Interim Executive Director at Helpline House, a social service agency on Bainbridge Island. In addition, Eldridge is a co-founder of investorflow.org, a global network of impact investors, and previously held leadership positions in technology startups.
“We are delighted to embark on a new chapter for Wave Aquatics. Not only have we built a sustainable business model, we have also shown how our effective public-private partnerships can deliver value to Eastside communities.” - Board President Gordon Macdonald
Wave has steadily served an increasing number of Eastside residents through its public programs at the Juanita Aquatics Center, Redmond’s Hartman Pool, and Willows Preparatory School Pool. Along with this growth in impact, the organization has generated positive net income every year for the past seven years.
"We are pleased to have Matt Eldridge manage the organization and support our search for the next Executive Director. Now more than ever, Eastside residents deserve greater access to high-quality aquatics facilities and programs. Aquatics capacity has fallen far behind population growth over the past several decades, and Wave is committed to working with our partners to address this pressing challenge." - Board VP Ann Meverden
The organization is in the process of launching a national search for its next Executive Director. Details will be posted at www.waveaquatics.org.
