WAVE Leadership and Governing Board Update

WAVE Aquatics Community,

We have some upcoming changes to WAVE Leadership as well as some Governing Board changes from the last few months that we would like to take a moment to update everyone on.

Chad Winkle took on the role of Executive Director and Head Coach for the WAVE Aquatics Swim Team during COVID.  He helped guide WAVE through that time and has helped us recover and grow in the last few years.  He was grown the Swim Team by quite a bit during that time and has decided that he would like to put all of his focus back on the Head Coach role.  Beginning September 1st, Chad will transition to working as the swim team’s Head Coach 100% of the time.   The Board has appreciated all of the work Chad has put in during his time as Executive Director and Head Coach and is happy to have Chad continue to lead the Swim Team.  WAVE on 3!

With Chad’s transition to focus on Head Coach, we will be splitting Executive Director and Head Coach back into two different roles in the organization.  The Board has begun the process to find an Executive Director.

After 1.5 years serving on the Board, Martha DeAmicis has stepped down from the Board. The Board would like to thank Martha for serving as Secretary and for the time and dedication as she helped us guide the organization during her time on the Board.

In January Chris Geitz took on the role of Vice President and Ben Bulent took on the role of Treasurer in April.  Julie Soedel was our Treasurer and is currently serving as a Member at Large.

In May, we welcomed two new Board members: Anna Mangual and Mike Brice.  Anna has taken the role of Secretary for the Board and Mike is a Member at Large.  I have included bios for all three of them below.  We have also added two new members to our Finance Committee:   Alice Wong, Patrick Weihert.

Best,

The WAVE Governing Board

Anna Mangual

HI Everyone!  I'm Anna and I am excited to be a part of the WAVE board serving this community.  Aquatics were a very formative part of my life, from competitive swimming and meets to lifeguarding and water safety instruction.  Spending time at the pool now with my two young children currently enrolled in the swim school has been an absolute joy, and has reignited the excitement I felt years ago working with the kids and staff.  We've been members of the WAVE community for a few years now, and have benefited so much from the experience. It is a privilege to now become a member of WAVE in this capacity and share my background in Operations and Program Management to further support our mission. Please say "hi" if you see me sitting on the bleachers with a big grin on my face.

Mike Brice

I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the Wave Aquatics Governing Board. I have used Redmond and Juanita pools since 1992 for my weekly swim routine. Swimming has been important to me not only for the exercise experience it affords but also for the number of friends that I have met over the years and still swim with. I look forward to how my extensive business career of 55 years in various industries, positions and as a business owner can be of value to serving on the WAVE Aquatics Governing Board.
