Welcome to Our Interim Head Coach

We are pleased to announce that Chad Winkle, who has served as Wave Swim Team's Head Age Group Coach for the past four years, is now our Interim Head Coach. Outgoing Head Coach Andy Pym has accepted a new coaching position in Iowa and his last day will be this coming Sunday, September 30. We would like to thank Andy for his contributions to Wave, and are delighted to have Chad step into the Interim Head Coach role.

"All of us wish Coach Andy the best, as he moves onto Central Iowa Aquatics," Chad remarked. "We appreciate all the hard work and insight that Andy has put into helping our Wave Swim Team move forward."

Chad's brings 15 years of coaching experience, including several head coach positions. Previously, Chad was the Head Coach for the Ketchikan Killer Whales Swim Club. He started out in coaching as the Head Satellite Coach for the Cincinnati Marlins. Chad has also coached a number of summer clubs and high school teams over the years. He has coached Age Group Top 10 qualifiers, Jr. Qualifiers, Sectional Qualifiers, All-Star Swimmers, Age Group Zone Swimmers, and numerous athletes to both the Alaska and Ohio High School State Champs Meet. In addition, Chad was the head coach for the PNS All-Stars team last year and the head coach of the PNS Age Group Zones team for the past two years.

"I am excited about the opportunity to work with our coaching staff to push Wave further than it has ever been," said Chad, "and am confident that together we can continue to build and strengthen our amazing team."

As I've gotten to know Chad during my short tenure at Wave, I've been impressed by his passion and commitment to our swimmers, communication style, and strategic thinking. I look forward to working closely with him in the months ahead.
