Relay Strength Powers Wave to 4th Place
PNS 12&U Championships Meet Recap
Wave's 12&Under swimmers wrapped up the Long Course season with another outstanding performance, earning a 4th place team finish against Western Washington’s best. The meet featured numerous Top 16 finishes, exceptional relay performances, and new USA Swimming Motivational Time standards. Leading the way was Aditeya Verma, who completed a sweep of the 11–12 Boys butterfly events, while Wave's 11–12 Boys relay teams captured victories in both 200m relays and runner-up finishes in both 400m relays (Aditeya, Ethan Jin, Dan Sun, Max Sun, and Owen Wilson). Congratulations to the entire team on an incredible championship meet and a fantastic finish to the Long Course season!

Purple Group
Eric Chai has had a phenomenal summer season. From a coaching perspective, it was clear that the work he put in all year blossomed into confidence in this young athlete. It's hard to pick a standout swim for him; I think he would claim his 50 Breast as his favorite event this weekend, as he swam himself to his first A cut! Just missing Finals, he placed in the top 20, earning Purple's highest placement!
Jayden Chen is a hard worker who never cuts corners. He had a great Champs meet, swimming strong. He bounced back after a disappointing DQ in the 200 Breast; he applied what he learned and CRUSHED his 100 Breast the next day. He had an excellent start that propelled him into a quick first 50. He dropped 2 seconds and improved his seed by five spots!
Vihaan Mehrotra has steadily improved since we began working together a year ago. After moving into A Group, he set a goal of qualifying for Champs and made it a reality by capitalizing on his success this weekend. His standout race was his bonus event, the 100 Breast; he used a strong kick to drop nearly 3 seconds and earned the official cut!
Andrew Ouyang is an athlete who has put in the work all season. He shows up to each practice with the intention of making himself 1% better each day. His determination was on full display in his 200 Breast this weekend! Dropping 6 seconds from his seed time, he used strong pacing and a quick finish to crush his seed time and jump two spots in the standings!
Benji Ovendale has been battling back pain all summer; this weekend, he showed up determined to power through and swim fast on the last day of Champs!! After a tough 200 Free, he regrouped and swam a proud 200 Back! He used a strong kick throughout the race, and it shone during his second 100, powering him to a 2-second drop!

Sofia Minchev had an impressive meet, earning best times in 4/6 races. Her 100 Fly was especially strong, as she has worked hard to get her head in the water at the right time after breathing, and she succeeded, resulting in a big 2.25-second drop.

Senior Prep
SR Prep Group had all our 12-year-olds make the meet and compete in Individual Cuts. The kids had a fantastic weekend of swimming, with some great racing, and everyone walked away with time drops (most with a bunch). We also had almost the whole group make finals in an individual event over the weekend. The group crushed it and had an awesome swim meet. Highlights:
Aman Bhatt was firing on all cylinders this weekend. He probably moved up the most places from the psych sheet to finals all weekend long. It was awesome to watch him swim and compete. His standout was his 11-second drop in his 200 Breast. He was out aggressive, worked his back half, and brought it home. Aman scored 20.5 points for Wave!
Adele Bokach absolutely crushed the weekend, dominating some of her swims and sprinkling in A Finals. Her standout swim was her 200 Fly, where she shook off the nerves in prelims and then went aggressive in Finals, dropping 5 seconds. Adele scored 55.5 points for Wave!
Jason Gao was flying all weekend and absolutely crushed it with some great swimming. He was cooking in his back events and snuck into the 100 Back Finals, where he dominated the swim with a 3.5-second drop to get back and score for the team. Jason scored 1 point for Wave!
Vivian Hu had a busy, fast weekend. She was a staple on all the relays and had finals swims throughout. She absolutely crushed her 400 IM on Saturday, posting a big-time 6-second drop, where her endurance really showed through. Vivian scored 79 points for Wave!

Eva Kalicinski had some big swims throughout the weekend and posted some great time drops. Her standout swim was her 400 IM on Saturday, where her backstroke held together for a great 6-second time drop in the event. Eva scored 114.5 points for Wave!
Lingyi Li had an amazing weekend with best times throughout and some really impressive relay swims. Lingyi’s standout swim was her almost 3-second drop in the 100 Free, where she raced hard, maintained steady breathing, and crushed the last 25 meters. Lingyi scored 124 points for Wave!
Rinat Maksyutov had a strong weekend of swimming, with some solid swims sprinkled in, including great relay and individual performances. His standout swim was his 50 Fly, where he took more than 2 seconds off the event, delivering a great race and strong tempo throughout. Rinat scored 10.5 points for Wave!
Clara Stevenson came in hot and ready for the meet. She was absolutely out after it in all her swims and dominated her 200 Fly on day one. She made finals, came back at night, and crushed it again (which is a hard double to make). She had great tempo, strong kicks, and a determined back 100. Clara scored 42 points for Wave!
Dan Sun had a tremendous weekend of swimming, with his a staple in Finals and on our A relays. His standout swim was his leadoff in the 400 Medley Relay. He split a PB by a few seconds and did an amazing job mentally bouncing back from a tough DQ in the morning. Great job and great mental toughness from him. Dan scored 54 points for Wave!
Max Sun was swimming to his max all weekend long. He did not touch the water or have a poor swim. It was awesome to watch and cheer him on. He started the weekend off with his standout swim in his 100 Free, where he pushed it from the dive and raced hard and fast, achieving a big 2.5-second drop in the event. Max scored 104 points for Wave!
Anna Ventura had a great weekend of swimming, with huge time drops and big swims throughout. She started the weekend with a brutal double, swimming the 200 Fly, the 1500, and then the 200 Fly in Finals (plus a leg in the 400 Free Relay). She nailed all her swims and absolutely crushed her 1500 – where she dropped more than 45 seconds in the event!!! Wow. Anna scored 82.5 points for Wave!
Aditeya Verma dominated the weekend with finals swims, relay swims, and some great racing. It is tough to pick a best swim for him, especially since he won some events. For me, the standout was his 100 Back, because it shows how much he has been working on all four of his strokes and improving. He dropped big time in the event and made a big improvement in his body position throughout. Aditeya led all of Wave in scoring with 133 points!
Alex Wang was a little up and down, but he was so mentally tough about it and did an awesome job talking through it and working on different things to help him. He ended on a high note in the 200 Back, where he had been struggling in his back, but he focused on his controllables and raced so well in Prelims to make it back in Finals with a 2.5-second drop. Alex scored 53 points for Wave!
Maja Wang had a tremendous weekend of swimming, with best times all over the place. Her standout swim came in her 200 Back, with a 5-plus-second drop. She attacked her front 100 and raced home well, then turned around and raced with intensity in Finals for a huge race. Maja scored 45 points for Wave!
Natalie Whitbeck had an awesome weekend of racing and swimming. She also stepped up big time for the team, filling in on both C Free Relays. She dominated her 200 Fly on day one with an amazing back half and a big-time drop of more than 15 seconds. She kept her tempo consistent throughout the race to crush it.
