Swim School Director
Felipe was born in Mexico City, where he discovered his passion for learning about new things, especially other people's cultures and customs. He learned how to speak English as a second language at the age of 10, and learned how to swim proficiently at the age of 12. Felipe loves to spend time with close friends, playing the guitar, making electronic music and writing as a hobby. You can catch Felipe at the Redmond Pool on weekdays, most likely with a cup of coffee and a huge smile on his face, so be sure to say hi!
Michael was born and raised in Redmond where he attended Einstein Elementary, Evergreen Middle and Redmond High; he even took swimming lessons at the Redmond Pool when there was still a high dive. After two years at WWU he decided he hadn't found his passion yet and returned to Redmond. Michael started working at Redmond Pool as a swim instructor in 2019. He quickly found he loves to teach swimming, and help others to provide great swimming lessons too! You can always find Michael in a happy mood, usually singing. He only stops singing to eat, sleep and play volleyball.
Michael grew up in Kirkland, where he attended Peter Kirk Elementary and International Community School. He worked for the City of Kirkland for 14 summers, doing everything from teaching swim lessons at the Peter Kirk Pool to managing the beach lifeguards at Houghton, Waverly and Juanita. Michael went to school at UC San Diego, but he couldn't stay away from the Pacific Northwest. He enjoys snowboarding at Stevens Pass, playing soccer for Finn Hill United, spending weekends on Whidbey Island, and travelling near and far to support the Seattle Sounders.
Michael has been with Wave Aquatics since September 2012.
